The Rise of Cancer in Younger People.

Recent studies, in regards to cancer in younger people, have concluded a rise in the last few years. It is undetermined what the exact reason for this increase, but it's something younger people should be aware of. Through many studies it has determined that younger people are getting cancer at a higher rate. This is also specific to a couple different cancers that seem to be affecting more people than usual. It is a frightening topic because a great consideration of us have had someone in our lives who has battled the nasty fight. So here at InnerActive we've gathered five resources with more information and great studies in regards to the increase of cancer in younger people.




The first resource is an article from HealthLine titled, "Cancer Rates for Teens and Young Adults Are Rising: What To Know". The article discusses a study done by the American Cancer Society which relates to the increase of cancer in younger people. It is also a great resource with understanding what the numbers actually mean. The second resource is an article from The Harvard Gazette titled, "Dramatic Rise in Cancer In People Under 50". Coming from the Harvard Gazette, this article really describes and specifically points out links to different cancers and how younger people have been increasingly getting cancer. Reading this article helped really identify early signs and the outcomes of daily things like our diet and drinking habits. The third resource in an article from Forbes titled "Cancer Rates Are On The Rise in Adolescents and Younger Adults New Study Shows". The article provides good information with different studies and putting the info together. Trying to discern exactly some of the causes and rising number of cases within young adults. The fourth resource is a blog from American Association for Cancer Research titled "AACR Virtual Meeting II: Why Are Cancer Rate Rising Among Young Adults?" This blog looks to answer a question that researchers have been trying to figure out over the last decade. Also, it explains the couple different cancers that they have been seeing major increases in. After introducing exactly what the problem is, a dialogue in interview style, begins and they blog asks important questions with high level researchers in regards to an increase of cancer cases in younger people. The fifth resource is an article from the National Cancer Institute titled, "Why is Colorectal Cancer Rising Rapidly Among Young Adults?" This article discusses the increasingly high rate of young adults getting colorectal cancer and why this is important. It. begins with a story of someone who was diagnosed with colorectal cancer and what causes the colorectal cancer to come about. Then another section that discusses the statistics and what the numbers mean. Then a plethora of other sections that discuss chemical in the environment, signs and ways for someone to notice they have colorectal cancer. Thus this article also helps to raise awareness for colorectal cancer and ways to help yourself. Overall, the article is a pretty easy read and filled with plenty of good information and understanding of colorectal cancer and it's increase in young adults under the age of 50. https://www.cancer.gov/news-events/cancer-currents-blog/2020/colorectal-cancer-rising-younger-adults





Overall, there is not a really good understanding or cause to why younger adults are increasingly gaining cancer. But, what we can do is become more aware of early signs and getting things checked to notice early signs of cancer. I hope one of these article was helpful in understanding the rise of cancer in young adults and how we can be better for ourselves to prevent early stage cancer.
