The Healing Power of Movement

What kind of impact can movement have not only on your physical self, but also your mental self? More and more we as a society look at movement such as walking, yoga, working out, running, or any kind of sport/physical activity as a way to heal our body. Research in regards to movement, has concluded that it is beneficial towards having better moods and clearing out those negative thoughts. When we move your bodies, the brain really enjoys getting the endorphins and begins to disassociate from our negative thoughts. In this article, InnerActive has found five unique resources, with evidence and suggestions in regards to how movement can improve our mental health.


The first article is from "Women Together" called "THE HEALING POWER OF MOVEMENT: A Woman Together Q&A with Zuleikha". The article is about a transformational-movement teacher names Zuleikha who sits down with Women Together to answer some of their questions. The article is not very long, but is a very interesting read and Zuleikha gives good tips in regards to how movement can be healing for the mind, body, and spirit.



2. The second article for The healing power of movement is from "OPTUM" titled, "How Movement Impacts Mental Health". This article discusses how movement can be an important factor for good mental health. Detailing nine ways that movement can positively change your mental state. It's a quick and easy read that gives a lot of good suggestions in an aesthetically pleasing format.




3. The third article comes from "Reebok" called "5 Ways Exercise Improves Your Mental Health" written by Kristen Geil. This is an easier to read article from a well-known athletic clothing brand sharing with you five different methods to improve mental health through physical activity.



4. The fourth article comes from "Mental Health In the Workplace" called "The mental health benefits of movement." This article discusses the possible benefits of physical activity or any kind of movement and its improvements on mental health, but more specifically in the workplace. How does not getting enough movement while we are at work negatively benefit our mental health? How can movement bring us into a better mental space during work? An easy read with interesting information and is very aesthetically pleasing.




5. The fifth and final article is actually a blog called "The Enso" written by Dr. Ellie Cobb, who is a Holistic Psychologist. She discusses how specific movements like yoga or meditation are easy and mindful ways to benefit mental health. A relatively quick read that has some interesting information from an expert in the field of mindful movement.
